In Vienna most drugs are not available over-the-counter and you must have a prescription of a doctor to obtain them. Non-prescription drugs like are only available in a pharmacy and not in drugstores (Drogerien).
Pharmacies are normally open on Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. On Saturdays, they are open from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. In emergencies, there are always 24-hour pharmacies throughout the city and a list of the nearest open pharmacy is posted outside of each pharmacy.
