Expat FAQ

Do you have a general question on expatriation? FAQs give you answers to the most frequent questions: Find a Job.

What is EURES?

EURES (EURopean Employment Services) combines the efforts of the European Commission and the public employment services of the countries belonging to the European Economic Area and Switzerland. Job seekers can access the job mobility portal to find jobs in 31 countries. It also provides information on the living and working conditions, recruitment/placement (job-matching), and a CV posting service.

In the context of the European employment strategy, the mobility of workers is not only a fundamental right, but also a tool to help the labour market adapt to developments. EURES plays an important role in identifying the surpluses and deficits of manpower in different sectors, and in overcoming qualification bottlenecks. The network also helps improve employability, particularly that of young people, through the acquisition of professional experience abroad. EURES is partly responsible for creating a common European labour market.
