To send mail, you can use either the national postal system, Correios de Moçambique, or a private courier like DHL. The latter is much faster and more secure, but also more expensive. Pricing details can be calculated online with both companies.
To receive mail, you will need to register for a PO Box with a local post office.
If you're receiving a package through the national postal system, a notice will be delivered to your PO Box and you can then use that to pick up your package. Be warned that the pick up process can be complicated. Often, processing is extremely slow and mail theft can be a problem. When you do receive a package, it will be subject to inspection by a customs officer who will apply a duty to your goods. Although rules are in place for how this should be done, bribes and excessive charges are a reported problem.
Whether you are receiving or sending packages and mail, it is wise to follow these guidelines for keeping your belongings safe.
