Hungary provides full medical coverage for all residents. Expats who are a resident and working or studying in Hungary are considered insured and are issued with a national health insurance card and a health insurance number by the National Health Insurance Fund.
There are also private insurance companies in Hungary for additional health insurance, and private hospitals that are available. Most state-employed doctors have private practices, which can be a lot more comfortable for their patients.
Most expats in Hungary have private healthcare through their work, which also included evacuation coverage in the case that a type of surgery or treatment cannot be performed in Hungary.
