Bulgarians use gas in their homes mainly for cooking, heating, and hot water.
The main private gas retailer in Bulgaria with the largest distribution of gas through the company is Overgas. This company handles imported gas, transmission, storage, and the sale of gas within Bulgaria.
Gas Rates in Bulgaria
Bulgaria has one of the lowest gas rates in Europe, alongside Romania and Hungary. The average price of gas for Bulgaria households per month is 0.033 Euro per kilowatt-hour (KWh). The average price for non-household is 0.022 Euro per KWh. The cost does not include taxes.
Gas meters are read each month and bills are sent by post at the beginning of each month. Customers should pay their bill within a 10-day period with the gas company. Payments can be made through the local Overgas Customer Service Centre, via e.Pay.bg, or at a cash point/ATM.
The standard electricity supply is 220/230 volts AC with a frequency of 50 hertz. A transformer or adapter can be used for other voltages.
There are three main electricity providers in Bulgaria: CEZ for Western Bulgaria, E.ON for North-Eastern Bulgaria, and ENV for South-Eastern Bulgaria.

The mains water is safe to drink in the cities, although people in rural areas prefer to drink bottled water and use tap water for washing and watering their gardens.
Most of the properties that are connected to mains water are metered and are charged per cubic meter of water used. Water shortages are rare in cities, but are common in rural areas.
Water companies in Bulgaria:
Water costs depend on where you are located in Bulgaria, but on average the water isn't more than 25 to 35 BNG a month.
Most properties near a town or village are already connected to a water connection. New properties often need to be connected to a water supply.
