There are over 750,000 mobile phone users in Luxembourg. Three major service providers dominate the market. International roaming (which allows a phone on a Luxembourgish contract to work outside the country) is available, but must be requested from the service provider and may cost extra. Since so many people commute in and out of the country, some services and plans offer discounted rates to those affected.
To get a contract, you can visit an electronic shop or a provider store. You may choose wither a permanent contract at a fixed monthly rate, or a pay-as-go plan that costs more per month, but is more flexible.
To cancel a subscription, contact your service provider. There is usually a substantial fee for cancelling before the agreed upon termination date. At least a month before your contract is finished, you should have the option to renew, or terminate.
A pay-as-you-go plan requires the user to purchase a SIM card (or entire phone) and purchase credit to use for calls and text messages. Additional credit can be purchased from affiliated phone stores or through the service provider website.
