    The Middle East is no longer the tax-free haven that has enticed millions of expats to its shores to earn a tax-free salary.
    This tax-free income is important to the scores of blue-collar workers, who make up a large proportion of expats, as their salaries support their families back home.
    Over the last few years, many of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states have implemented various taxes, such as corporate and Value Added Tax (VAT) to diversify their revenues.
