Chilean food is a wonderful mix of tastes that come from native elements, the history of Spanish colonization, and people who moved to Chile from other places. When you visit Chile, these are some special dishes and food experiences you really should try:

Empanadas are a kind of pastry very common in Chile food. They have inside things like meat, cheese, or sea creatures and can be good for eating fast or when you want something that fills you up more. You can choose if they should be cooked in an oven or with oil.

Chile has a very long coast, more than 4,000 kilometers. Because of this, there is a lot of fresh seafood available. Make sure to taste local foods such as ceviche or the typical seafood stew called chupe de mariscos and the well-known seafood soup named paila marina.

Chileans are very serious about their barbecue, and you should not miss an asado if you go to Chile. You join with friends and family for eating grilled meats, choripanes which is like a sausage sandwich, and usual sides such as pebre that is a kind of hot sauce, also marraquetas that are bread rolls with a hard crust.

Pastel de choclo is a warm, filling meal that has layers of mashed corn, beef and chicken meat, onions, olives and sliced hard-boiled eggs. It's baked until it turns golden brown. This dish is very comforting and ideal for cold nights.

Lift up your glass and make a toast for the welcoming nature of Chile with a cool pisco sour drink. This famous mix has pisco, which is brandy made from grapes, lemon juice, sugar water, and white part of an egg; it's finished with some drops of bitter flavor on top. Cheers to good company and unforgettable moments!
The completo, a version of hot dog from Chile, is something you really should try. It has many things on top like avocado, pickled cabbage, egg sauce, tomato and yellow sauce. Eating it is very enjoyable even if it gets untidy and will make your hunger go away.

Chile is famous for its high quality wines, especially Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc types. Go on a wine journey through the Casablanca, Maipo or Colchagua valleys to taste top-level wines and discover about the winemaking customs of Chile.

Enjoy tasting the deep tastes from Chile's food while you are here. Wish you a good meal!

Although I sometime see some Eritrean restaurant, some Tibetan restaurant, etc... never went to a Chilean restaurant... Similar to Argentinian?

Chilean cuisine has similarities to Argentinian but focuses more on seafood. Try "ceviche" (marinated seafood) and "empanadas de pino" (stuffed pastries with beef and olives). If you like Argentinian food, you'll probably enjoy Chilean food too.
