The Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau puts the number of unemployed Kuwaitis at 20,573 (records from 2011). On closer examination of CSB unemployment statics for 2011, 4,724 were male while, 15,848 were female. Of those looking for work, males were unemployed for less than six months. For females, most were unemployed for up to 12 months, and in some cases, even longer. The Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau makes no mention of unemployed foreigners in Kuwait.

Who is Eligible?
Only Kuwaiti nationals are eligible for benefits.
Most expats are in Kuwait for a contracted period of work, and once that expires or employment is terminated, they return to their home country.
