Singapore is an attractive choice for people seeking work abroad for a whole host of reasons. The first, and very important reason, is that it is an English speaking country, which means that, as long as you have a good standard of English, there is no real need to learn another language (other than for personal development) in order to live here. The country itself is dynamic and cosmopolitan, yet the setting is definitely Southeast Asian. It is also one of the safest places in the world to live in (a good article to read on this subject would be Aileen Saw's Singapore, the Safe Haven http://www.atimes.com)

It has to be pointed out that not every job is possible to find in Singapore . As they get a lot of cheap labour from the Philippines, Malaysia and China, for instance, they do not expect Caucasians to do blue collar work (such as waiting on tables or working on a building site). You will only find work like this if it is in a niche area (for example, being an Italian waiter in an upmarket Italian restaurant).

You may also like to hang around the various clubs they have in Singapore (such as the Swiss Club, the American Club, the Tanglin Club) and make contacts there as these clubs tend to have a lot of members who are professionals.
