There is no system of public day-nurseries.

Under the term " Day Care Center ", one can find Child Care centers. Some take new - borns (6 weeks- 3 months). Check out your various options before deciding on a Day Care Center. See what the adult/child ratio is, if food is provided, etc.

A Day Care or full-time Family Care costs between $800 and $1200 a month. The centres or Family Care who have timetables at your choice costs between $5 and $7 an hour or $40 to $50 a day.

Baby-sitting is a means usually used in the USA. The cost of a Nanny who comes to your house during the day varies between $9 and $12 an hour. You can ask her to do from 40 to 60 hours a week, to stay in the certain evenings or weekends. She will not do the housework nor the shopping. The Nanny is paid every 15 days during the 12 months of the year ( 15 paid days off ). It is necessary to declare the incomes which you pay her. There are even live in Nannies and Au Pairs (girls who come from foreign countries to live and work in an English speaking house to learn English).
