Shopaholics will rejoice in the bounties that Munich has to offer. From top international brands to traditional Bavarian crafts, you’ll find it all in Munich. Some of the main shopping areas in Munich are:

Neuhauserstrasse and Kaufingerstrasse: These two streets are the city’s main shopping arteries and are home to large department stores and international chains.

Maximilianstrasse and Theatinerstrasse: This is the place to be if you’re looking for smaller, more exclusive boutiques

Schellingstrasse, Maxvorstadt: A shopping paradise packed with antique shops and bookshops

Typical Bavarian gifts might include traditional clothing (Trachten), such as Lederhosen for men and Dirndl for women; beer mugs (Stein); wood carvings (Holzschnitzereien); pewter-ware (Zinn); the famous Nymphenburg porcelain and specialty foods such as Lebkuchen, Christmas Stollen, and marzipan.
