    Cinema

Of the quintessential Los Angeles sights, Mann's Chinese Theatre and the "Walk of Fame" sidewalk featuring the hand prints and footprints of movie legends is perhaps the best. Along with the literal footprints of legends, the theatre hosts some of the biggest movie premiere's in Hollywood. The theatre is located at 6925 Hollywood Blvd. and more information can be found by calling (323) 463-9576. Also not to be missed for those who love movie history is the El Capitan Theatre at 6834 Hollywood Blvd. and the famous Egyptian Theatre at 6712 Hollywood Blvd. They are the site of the premiere of "Citizen Kane" and the site of the very first premiere in Hollywood in 1922 respectively. For a bit of current cinema history go to the Kodak Theatre where the Annual Academy Awards are now held.

    Nightclubs

Clubs tend to go in and out of vogue quickly in trendy LA, but there are a few staples which remain desirable. Many of these popular clubs have long waiting lines where you may, or may not get in and almost any club has a cover on weekend nights. Come well dressed and with some cash.

The Viper Room, once owned by Johnny Depp, continues to be a standard of nightlife in LA. Located on Sunset Blvd., they feature a combination of live music and DJs. The exclusive Sky Bar is owned by Cindy Crawford and located within the Mondarian Hotel and has a bar at the pool which overlooks the city. The Key Club is another hotspot where both The Birds and The Doors got their start.

There are also a variety of clubs dedicated to gays and lesbians. Axis and the Palms offer a club and bar for lesbians. Micky's, Rage, and Revolver are all located on Santa Monica Blvd. and have wild reputations. Spike is open Thursday to Sunday and open till 6am, making it fill up at 2am when the other clubs close.

For constantly updated live shows and events in club life, check out LA Nightlife. For a how-to on picking the right place and actually getting in try here.
