Frankfurt has a long history of traditional cuisine.

Here below are some of the traditional specialities in Frankfurt:

    - Frankfurter sausages, of course
    - Smoked beef sausages.
    - Sauerkraut, of course
    - The 'Schäufelchen', a pig portion (600g) of pork shoulders.
    - The famous grüne Sosse, (quark and different herbs) is delicious with beef, meat, eggs and fish. It must be served with hot potatoes.
    - Fromage frais with a slice of black bread, onions, oil and paprika (Frankfurter Goldstick mit Mussick)
    - Small pieces of marzipan with almond (Die Bethmännchen), sold in chocolate shops.

    - The Frankfurt Crown (Der Frankfurter Kranz). A delicious cake with butter cream, covered with almonds and cherries.

And of course the Frankfurt drink ‚Ebbelwei': based on apple juice and that you can drink in the tourist tram that goes around the city. Don't miss it!
