    Hello!

What public transportation is available in Moscow? Is it easy to move about Moscow? What modes of transport are available: Bus? Underground/Subway? Trams? Trains?

Do you use public transportation in Moscow? Can you recommend it? Is it safe, inexpensive, and reliable? What is your experience? How much is a basic fare? Is there a monthly card, or discount options?

Thank you for sharing your tips, questions and advice!

    Re: Public Transportation in Russia

As mentioned by Tonyfitz ( HERE), the metro in Moscow is very good! Trains go every minute in rush hour.
In London I sometimes had to wait 6 minutes before my train arrived.
They are sometimes busy, but never as busy as in London, where I had to squeeze myself in.

We have lived here now for 10 months and I have never experienced any troubles with the metro. No delays, no technical problems.
We have a 60-rides card which costs 1300 rubbles. With the current exchange rate that is GBP 0.23 per ride (or EUR 0.30).
I feel safe in the metro and almost every station is like a museum!

A lot of stations are very deep under the ground, so it takes you a couple of minutes to get down there with the escalator.
Be careful of the doors when you enter the station, as they are very heavy and can knock you off your feet if you are not watching out.
