Theater and Opera

There are four main theatre, opera, and arts performance venues in Malta:

• Teatru Manoel (Manoel Theatre) (Valletta)
• St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity (Valletta)
• Mediterranean Conference Centre (Valletta)
• Malta Fairs and Convention Centre (Ta Qali)
• Open air theatre (Valletta - expected opening 2013)

Teatru Manoel does not have air conditioning and only operates during the winter months. Local performing groups rotate around these four venues throughout the year.

Tickets for concerts, ballets, operas, and plays can be purchased directly through these venues. Ticket prices range from €5-€40 for such performances.

Museums & Historical Sites

Malta's most popular museums and historical sites include:

• St. John's Co-Cathedral Museum (Valletta)
• Museum of Fine Arts (Valletta)
• Museum of Archaeology (Valletta)
• Hal Salfieni Hypogeum and Tarxien Temples (Tarxien)
• Hagar Qim and Mnadjra Neolithic Temples
• Roman Villa (Rabat)
• Maritime Museum (Birgu)
• Inquisitor's Palace (Birgu)
• National War Museum (Valletta)
• Palace Armoury and Palace State Rooms (Valletta)

These sites are operated by Heritage Malta, and ticket prices range from €4-€20. A full list of prices for these museums and sites is published on Heritage Malta's web site.

Expats can purchase a Heritage Malta membership for free access to most sites for one year. Memberships start at €55/year, and family and senior discount rates are available.
