The dominate sport in Kuwait is football (soccer). The Kuwait Football Association is the governing body for football in Kuwait.

The National Team of Kuwait is called Al-Azraq (nickname The Blue). There are two National Teams, Team A and Team B. There's also an U17 National Team and an Olympic National Team. In addition to these teams, there are numerous local teams as well.

Kuwait's National Team belongs to the AFC Asian Cup league and competes against other National Teams in the region including Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, The UAE and many others.

Stadiums

• Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium - Constructed in 2009 with a seating capacity of 68,000 spectators. The stadium is closed due to structural issues. Kuwait's National Team played here.
• Sabah Al Salem Stadium - Constructed in 1977 and seats 22,000 fans.
• Al-Sadaqua Walsalam Stadium - Seats 21,500.
• Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium - Seats 22,000 fans.
• Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium - Hosted Kuwait's National Team during 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifications. The stadium seats 18,500.
• Al Ahmadi Stadium - Multipurpose stadium, used primarily for football matches and seats 18,000.
• Kuwait National Stadium - Home to Kuwait's National Team. Seating capacity is 16,000.
• Thamir Stadium - Another of Kuwait's multipurpose stadiums with seating for 16,105.
• Farwaniya Stadium - Seating for 16,000
• Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah Stadium – A small stadium used primarily for football matches and seats 10,000.

Sporting Events

Only a handful of major sporting events have taken place in Kuwait. They include the following:

• International Table Tennis Federation - February
• Red Bull X Fighters Freestyle Motocross - February
• Kuwait 4^th FINA World Men's Water Polo – early May
• Asian Team Championships (Asian Squash Federation) - May
• Kuwait International Regatta (Sailing) - December
• Kuwait International Open Bowling Championship – competition throughout the year

Camel Racing

Camel racing is a popular sport that takes place from October through February each year. The Kuwait Camel Racing Club organizes these events. Races take place at Al-Atraf (Kabd) Camel Racing Track.

Activities

Kuwait has much to offer for the sports enthusiast. Here's a list of the more popular clubs.

• The Palms Beach Club -The Palms is a member only club offering tennis, squash and diving opportunities.
• The Indian Bowling League of Kuwait - Has a Facebook page, if you're interested in bowling.
• The Kuwait Little League Baseball and Softball club - The league started has been around since 1980, and is registered with Little League International in the USA. Seasons run from October through April.
• The Ice Skating Rink - Part of the Touristic Enterprises Company, has an Olympic size ice skating rink available to the general public.
• Japan Karate Association World Federation, Of Kuwait - Offers course in martial arts.
• Aqua-Tots Swim School – Offers swimming lessons to children, both private and group lessons, with qualified swimming instructors.
• Kuwait Riding Center - Started in 1996 with just 20 riders and 21 horses. Over the years, the center has evolved into a well-established training center for beginners and seasoned riders of all age groups, both male and female.
• Al-Corniche Club - A member only club with a wide selection of sporting opportunities available for its members including, weight rooms, aerobics classes, a heated pool, obstacle course, volleyball courts and much more.
• Swimming Pool Complex - Built in 1988, the complex has an Olympic size pool and has a depth of 2.25 meters. Admission is 1KD per person +1/4KD locker rental fee.

Gym

• Oxygen Gym - Memberships start at 195KD per year.
• Platinum Gym - Offers a wide variety of exercise equipment, aerobics and spa facilities for its members.
• Flex Fitness - A well known fitness center with numerous locations across Kuwait.
• Champion - A popular gym with separate facilities for male, female, boys and girls.
• Al-Corniche Club - The most exclusive club in Kuwait, offering first class amenities for its members. The club strictly controls its membership numbers and is the most expensive club in Kuwait.
