Opera in Budapest

The Hungarian State Opera House is the opera house for many well-known singers in Budapest. Its location is in central Budapest, which is perfect for tourists when they want to grab dinner and then watch the opera. It's construction began in 1875 and has been a big part of Hungarian culture ever since. It is home to the Budapest Opera Ball, which began in 1886.

Orchestra in Budapest

The Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra is Hungary's oldest orchestra. Ferenc Erkel founded it in 1853 under the auspices of the Budapest Philharmonic Society. Budapest Festival Orchestra is another popular orchestra amongst Hungarians and tourists.

Museums in Budapest

If you visit Budapest for more than one day, then you are sure to explore one or more of the 100 museums in the city. There are both large-scale exhibitions as well as some intimate small-scale exhibitions.

State-owned museums do have a fee for entry. Most museums are relatively cheap and admission prices range from 1000-2000 HUF. Most museums are closed either Mondays or Tuesdays. Always check the museums website for up-to-date schedule and hours.
