There are more than hundred banks in Belgium, in all the financial sectors. More than 40 foreign banks (Citibank, Deutsche Bank, ING, Axa, ...) make business in the capital of Europe.

Since the euro, Belgium banks tend to disappear, purchased by international groups (Générale de Banque, Crédit Communal, Kredietbank, BBL have been taken over by Fortis Banque, Dexia Banque, KBC, ING), and a pan-European financial sector is taking place bit by bit.

Nearly 75% of the Belgian market is divided into only 4 groups:

    • Fortis Banque [https://www.fortisbanking.be], first bank-insurance in Benelux and first capitalization on the Belgian stock exchange. It offers a special package to avoid a lot of problems when you arrive in Belgium
    • KBC [http://www.kbc.be], the "Flemish bank", third financial group of the country
    • Dexia [http://www.dexia-societedecredit.be], credit branch of the French-Belgian group, specialize in financing public projects.
    • ING [http://www.ing.be] is known to be the bank of expatriates in Belgium, with 40% of the market.

You will find all the details of the banks in Brussels on the Eurobru.com website.
